I'm so excited to share my card today! Not only did I finally get to play with the "You're Purrfect" stamp set by Clearly Besotted (these kitties are the cutest), but I also got to try out three new-to-me techniques: no-line coloring, stamping my own patterned paper, and making a double slider card using Lawn Fawn's new die set!
It's not that these techniques are difficult, I suppose I just tend to go on auto-pilot and grab for my favorite black ink and whatever patterned paper I happen to have in my stash. As for the double slider, I had been meaning to make one from scratch for a while, but I have to say, Lawn Fawn's new set really makes it easy. I just love how this card expands to reveal the surprise when the tabs are pulled!
The greeting reads, "Sorry you're feeling pawly. Hope you're feline better soon." (This made me laugh so hard, I think my family ended up laughing at me instead of the puns!)
As you can see, when the tabs are pulled, all the playful kittens are there waiting for the sick kitty to feel better and come play with them. (Clearly Besotted really filled this stamp set with so many different kitties!)
I chose to keep my color palette to just orange, green and purple because orange kitties are cute and I think purple is more fun than black; green rounds out the last of the secondary colors. Tim Holtz's distress ink in wilted violet, twisted citron and spiced marmalade fit this color scheme perfectly.
Here you can see a closer look at my homemade patterned paper, using stamps from the same set. I also embossed the greeting, using an embossing powder in monarch orange, and I used a 3D crystal lacquer over the fish bowl.
I decided to keep the inside simple with plenty of room to write a message (in purple ink no less!), choosing just one last kitty to liven up the bottom corner.
I finished by tying some green and white floss on the pull tabs to mimic the green yarn the kitties are playing with and I made an envelope to match, using my envelope punch board.
Are there any techniques you've been meaning to get to, but just haven't yet found the right card to try them out on? I know I have a list of my own somewhere! I'm sure they will make their way to the blog sooner or later. :)
Hope this post finds you well! Thanks for stopping by!
